Death toll in Meghalaya mine blast climbs to 25

The death toll in the mine explosion in the Indian State of Meghalaya that claimed the lives of four Nepali nationals has reached 25.

“The rescue team has recovered four more bodies from the mine. The search is still on at the site of the explosion in Minsinghat in Thangskai area," BBC Hindi quoted an authority as saying.

Four more bodies were found, taking the death toll to 25. Two of them are Nepalis.

Authorities said, “Of the bodies recovered so far, 17 have been identified and handed over to their relatives.”

A suspected dynamite explosion took place on Thursday morning at an illegal coal mine under the jurisdiction of Ummulong Police Station in Meghalaya. Many workers were working there in the mine.
