T20 World Cup: Nepal loses to England by 4 runs

Nepal lost to England by 4 runs in its opener under the ICC Men's T20 World Cup held in Mumbai, India on Sunday.

England restricted Nepal to 180 runs while the latter was chasing the 185-run target.

To restrict Nepal from reaching the target, England's Liam Dawson took 2 wickets giving away 21 runs followed by Luke Wood, Jofra Archer, Will Jacks and Sam Curran with 1 wicket each.

Dipendra Singh Airee's 44-run score was the highest for Nepal. Airee hit 6 fours and 1 six off 29 balls. Rohit Paudel and Lokesh Bam notched up 39 runs each while Kushal Bhurtel contributed 29 runs. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss at the Wankhede Stadium, England notched up 184 runs losing 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Jacob Bethell topped the score with 55 runs incluidng 4 fours and six sixes off 35 balls followed by captain Harry Brook with 53 runs while Will Jacks and Jos Buttler contributed 39 and 26 runs, respectively.

In reply, Dipendra Singh Airee and Nandan Yadav took 2 wickets each while Sher Malla and Sandeep Lamichhane grabbed 1 wicket each for Nepal. 

Nepal will now play Italy in its next group stage match on Wednesday.
