The airbus of Turkish Airlines, which had been diverted to Dhaka after receiving a Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) alert during its landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), has landed at the airport safely.
The flight number TK 726 of Turkish Airlines, which was coming to Kathmandu from Istanbul, had received a GPWS alert at Tribhuvan International Airport. Now the airbus had returned from Dhaka flowing a technical inspection and already landed at TIA.
"Turkish Airlines' wide body airbus A330 Series received a GPWS alert during its landing. Hence, it was diverted to Dhaka for technical inspection as per the advice of the crew members. The pilot is altered once the aircraft approaches a hill, tree or tower through audio or video messages. Now it has returned from Dhaka and landed at TIA," said Santusta Kumar Basnet, spokesperson of TIA.
He further said that the aircraft has now returned from Dhaka and landed safely at TIA.
Earlier on February 4, the airbus of Turkish Airlines had caught fire on its right engine four minutes after it took off from TIA. The crew members had, then, diverted the plane to Kolkata, India.
