Chinese President Xi Jinping has promised to unify Taiwan with China at any cost.
Submitting his report at the CPC National Congress on Sunday morning, Xi said that separatist activities will be taken under control and Taiwan will be unified with China.
“We will not renounce the use of force and will take all necessary measures to stop all separatist movements," he told the delegates. When Xi made that promise, the entire hall echoed with the loudest applause.
Xi said the party must stand firm on its strategy to resolve the Taiwan issue and be determined to reunify the nation. Meanwhile, he also said the party will always “respect, care and work to benefit compatriots in Taiwan” with economic and cultural exchanges.
“The resolution of the Taiwan issue is a matter for the Chinese people themselves, to be decided by the Chinese people,” he added
He further said that one country, two systems is the best system for Hong Kong and Macao. (With inputs from South China Morning Post)
