Qatar Airways has announced a 'limited flight' schedule for Doha, as regular flights are affected after Qatar's airspace was closed due to the Iran war. The airline has introduced a new schedule to fly to 14 cities around the world, including Delhi, Dhaka, New York, Beijing and Mumbai, every day until March 17.
Qatar Airways said it has taken this step to transport stranded passengers to their destinations after receiving temporary permission from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority to use limited flight routes. However, the airline has not yet announced any concrete decision regarding Nepal, which has three flights a day.
"All regular flights are still suspended due to the closure of Qatar's airspace," an official statement issued by Qatar Airways said. "In these difficult circumstances, we are doing our best to assist customers with their travel and reunite them with their families."
The airline, appreciating the patience of passengers in this crucial situation, added, "Regular flights will resume only after the Civil Aviation Authority declares that Qatar's airspace is completely safe from the relevant authorities."
The airlines have also arranged some direct 'point-to-point' flights for passengers stranded due to the latest disruption. They have also warned against overcrowding at the airport. The notice says, "We request passengers not to come to the departure airport until their tickets are confirmed."
Status of Nepal flights
Qatar Airways is one of the airlines that carries the most passengers and flies the most in Nepal. It has been operating three Doha-Kathmandu flights a day under normal conditions. This airline is the main choice not only for Nepalis going to Qatar for foreign employment but also for Nepalis going to Europe and the US. Hundreds of passengers are stranded as the flight schedule for Nepal has not been released at present. Qatar, which operates about 1,000 flights worldwide daily, has not yet clarified when it will resume flights to Nepal.
