Two die in  federal capital road mishap

Two persons died after being knocked down by a bus at Bhotebahal of Kathmandu on Friday night.

The deceased have been identified as Padam Upadhyay, 45, and 37-year-old Satish Kumar Kushwaha of India, according to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.

According to Naresh Raj Subedi, Superintendent of Police (SP) and Spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police, the pedestrians were struck by a bus, Ba Pra-3-01-005 Kha 9298, belonging to Om Janata Transport.

The incident took place while the bus was traveling from Kalimati toward Tripureshwar.

Critically injured in the incident, both men were rushed to the National Trauma Center where they breathed their last during the treatment on Friday night itself, added SP Subedi.

Police have arrested the bus driver, 35-year-old Man Bahadur Basnet, originally from Dolakha district and currently residing in Kapan, Kathmandu.

The Kalimati Police Circle is conducting further investigation into the incident, according to SP Subedi.
