Newly elected FNCCI President Anjan Shrestha.
Anjan Shrestha has officially assumed the presidency of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), the country's largest umbrella organization for the private sector. Shrestha succeeds Chandra Prasad Dhakal to become the 21st President of the federation.
A seasoned industrialist and Executive Director of Laxmi Group, Shrestha assumed the leadership of FNCCI, an organization representing over 500,000 entrepreneurs and acting as a primary economic advisor to the Government of Nepal. Shrestha, having served as Senior Vice President, took the mantle to lead the private sector for the next three-year term.
With two-decade trajectory within the federation, starting as an executive committee member in 2002 (2059 BS), he brings extensive experience from his roles in the Revenue Committee, Industry Committee, and the Employers' Council.
Shrestha is a prominent figure in Nepal's industrial landscape. He began his career in 1988 (2045 BS) with his family’s confectionery business, Sujal Foods, which now commands a 50% market share in Nepal. Under his leadership at Laxmi Group, the business has diversified into Automobiles (Hyundai vehicles) and Manufacturing.
As the new President, Shrestha faces the immediate challenge of navigating the national economy alongside a government holding a near two-thirds majority in Parliament.
"Anjan Shrestha’s transition from a Senior Vice President to the Presidency marks a strategic continuity for FNCCI, placing a leader with deep roots in diverse sectors—from confectionery to heavy industry—at the forefront of Nepal’s economic advocacy," said an industry analyst.
