Foreign Minister Khanal lands in Delhi as RSP President Lamichhane returns home

Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has landed in New Delhi. He has gone to India at the invitation of Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar.

Minister Khanal was welcomed by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Prashant Pise at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

Indian External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, while sharing a welcome picture on X, said that "this visit will help further strengthen the special partnership between India and Nepal."

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Khanal will meet his Indian counterpart Dr S Jaishankar during his visit to India. The foreign ministers of both countries will discuss various issues of mutual interest and bilateral relations, it is learnt.

Foreign Minister Khanal is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on June 7.

Foreign Minister Khanal's trip to India marks a back-to-back high-level visit from Nepal. It follows closely on the heels of Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane, who returned home today after wrapping up a five-day official visit to the southern neighbor.

Lamichhane had left for India on June 1 at the cordial invitation of Bharatiya Janata Party President Nitin Nabin.

During his India visit, Lamichhane held high-level meetings Indian leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Nitin Nabin, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishanar. He also had an interaction with Nepali community and his supporters in India and returned home today after visiting Ayodhya, a religious city.
