The e-commerce platform Daraz Group has announced a major leadership transition for its Nepal operations. Aanchal Kunwar will step down as Managing Director of Daraz Nepal effective July 1, 2026. She will transition into an advisory role until the end of the year to ensure a smooth handover.

Ben Yi, the current Chief Commercial Officer of Daraz Group and Managing Director of Daraz Bangladesh, will step in as the Acting Managing Director for Daraz Nepal. Yi brings over a decade of leadership experience from within the Alibaba Group ecosystem, specializing in marketplace growth and cross-border commerce.

Additionally, Ratish Luitel has been appointed as Daraz Nepal's new Chief Commercial Officer. Luitel is a seven-year veteran of the company and currently serves as the Finance Lead for both Nepal and Sri Lanka, bringing 15 years of industry experience to his new role overseeing commercial operations.

During her four-and-a-half-year tenure, Kunwar led Daraz Nepal through a period of massive expansion. Under her leadership, the company more than doubled its business size, grew its active customer base to over three million, and expanded its seller ecosystem to 24,000 merchants—85% of which are small and medium enterprises (SMEs)—across 140 locations nationwide.

Moving forward, Daraz stated it remains committed to driving Nepal's digital transformation. The company plans to focus on leveraging technology and AI to enhance platform efficiency, empower local sellers, and create sustainable growth in the region.
