Govinda Bahadur Karki has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of the Nepal government effective from July 10.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Wednesday appointed Karki as the next Chief Secretary, confirmed the spokesperson of the government Sasmit Pokharel, who is also the Minister for Educatioan and Sports.
The incumbent Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal is going to retire on July 9 on the ground of his age.
Karki will be the 30th Chief Secretary of the Nepal government.
Karki was the Director General of the Department of Industry before being promoted to Commerce and Supplies Secretary. He has been working at the Prime Minister's Office and helping the incumbent government reform the bureaucracy.
