Opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) in the House of Representatives have called on Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal to issue a ruling summoning Prime Minister Balendra Shah to Parliament. The lawmakers are demanding an official clarification regarding the Prime Minister’s recent statement claiming that "Nepal has also encroached upon Indian land."
Speaking during Wednesday’s session, CPN (UML) MP Rajendra Kumar Rai demanded that Speaker Aryal order the Prime Minister to face Parliament directly. "Do we have to keep protesting forever?" Rai asked. "The Prime Minister must be brought to the rostrum. We need a ruling to bring him here."
Supporting the demand, Nepali Communist Party (NCP) MP Parshuram Tamang asserted that Nepal has never encroached on any border and urged PM Shah to withdraw his statement. Tamang emphasized that maintaining the dignity and sovereignty of Parliament rests on the Speaker, adding that Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has also to intervene in the matter.
Joining the opposition chorus, Shram Saskriti Party Chairman Harka Sampang and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) MP Tahir Ali Bhat both demanded an immediate correction of the statement. Sampang warned against allowing the House to fall into chaos, while Bhat questioned how Parliament could function if the Prime Minister fails to appear while the opposition continues to protest.
