Twenty-four Nepali people, who were lured to Oman with promises of lucrative job offers, have been left high and dry in the Gulf country.

The foreign job aspirants, who reached Oman four months ago, said they could not find out the companies as per the contract they had singed with the manpower company while in Nepal.

They reached in Oman by submitting Rs 155,000 each to Abdullah and Kaji Miya, the owners of Al Kausar Human Resources Pvt. Ltd. in Kathmandu, based on their assurances that they would be paid Rs 150 Omani Rial (approximately Rs 50,000) in salary.

“Even though we were flown to Oman with promises that we would be employed in a building construction company, we did not find the jobs as per the contract, let the company alone,” said a victim.

Kedar Bishwokarma, one of the victims, who has been desperately awaiting rescue for the past one month, said, “We appealed to the concerned manpower company over the phone urging the latter for rescue but our request fell on deaf ears.

They have made an appeal to the Nepal government, the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security and the Department of Foreign Employment for their rescue, urging them to take a stringent action against the crooked manpower company.
