Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) met with Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane today.
Balen, who had reached Lamichhane's residence in Budhanilkantha alone to meet the party president at 11:30 am, left only at 3:15 pm, according to a source at the Prime Minister's Office.
The recent growing dissatisfaction with the government and the management of squatters were discussed during the meeting.
According to an official from the Prime Minister's Office, the government's 100-day review, nomination of party office-bearers, and cabinet reshuffle were discussed during the meeting.
There is a provision for nominating 11 office-bearers and 51 central committee members, including seniors leader, in RSP. Similarly, the nominations from Balen and Rabi's respective factions have yet to be finalized.
In addition, there has been some dissatisfaction between Rabi and Balen regarding the statute. In particular, the Balen faction has expressed dissatisfaction with the provision to change the leader of the parliamentary party (PP) and to appoint as many senior leaders as it wants.
According to the statute provision, the position of the PP leader will be vacant if the policy guidelines given by the party President are not followed him/her or a no-confidence motion against the party leader is passed in the parliamentary party.
