Three children of a family drown in ditch

Three children of a family drowned in a water-filled ditch at Golbazaar in Siraha district on Sunday.

Police said that the children sank in a water-filled ditch near a livestock market at Choharba in Golbazaar-7, Siraha. The ditch was made to collect water for livestock in the market, it is said.

The District Police Office, Siraha, said that 12-year-old Sabnam Khatun, 10-year-old Rubina Khatun and seven-year-old Saiful Sheikh from Jigrawa of Rautahat district died in the mishap. All of them were living at Golbazaar-7 in a rented house and were making their lives by collecting scrap.

Meanwhile, body of a child, who was missing in Rapti River in Banke district, was recovered on Sunday.

Nine-year-old Shulav Raut of Duduwa Rural Municipality-9 in the Banke district was found dead in the river, while Khushi Sijapati, 11, is still missing, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Banke Pratit Singh Rathore said.
