The ruling coalition led by CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli is holding a meeting at 5 pm today.

The meeting to be held at Baluwatar will strike a deal on the distribution of ministerial portfolios, sources have said.

“The meeting called for 5 pm today will strike a deal on the distribution of 17 ministerial portfolios,” the source told Nepalkhabar. “The political parties will submit a list of ministers to the prime minister in the meeting.”

CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Dahal, who was elected as the prime minister with the support of 169 lawmakers including three independent lawmakers from seven political parties, had formed an eight-member cabinet including four lawmakers from the UML, two from the Maoist Center and one each from the Rastriya Swatantra Party and the Janamat Party on December 26.

Prime Minister Dahal, who reached Balkot this morning, chalked out a modality for the distribution of 17 ministerial portfolios among coalition partners.

Dahal had informed that the cabinet would be expanded by today evening following a meeting with UML Chair Oli that lasted for around five hours in Balkot.

“The cabinet will be expanded today itself,” said Dahal.
