UML’s Chapagain elected Bagmati Province deputy speaker

UML leader Apsara Chapagain.

Apsara Chapagain of CPN (UML) has been elected as the deputy speaker of Bagmati Province Assembly.

A meeting of the assembly today elected Chapagain as the deputy speaker. She obtained 61 votes.

Apart from Chapagain, Suna Pariyar of the Nepali Congress and Gita Kafle of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party had registered their candidacies for the post.

Chapagain had been elected as the lawmaker under the proportional representation category.

UML has 27 lawmakers, CPN (Maoist Center) 21, Rastriya Prajatantra Party 12 and Hamro Nepali Party has two lawmakers in the province.
