Newly elected Speaker Devraj Ghimire has taken charge of the office.
Assuming his office Ghimire said that he would hold an orientation session for the members of parliament (MPs) on the parliamentary practice and process and vowed that he will make the House of Representatives (HoR) dignified and well-ordered.
Ghimire went to take charge of the office at the Federal Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar after taking oath from President Bidya Bhandari.
President Bhandari administered oath of office and secrecy to Ghimire amidst a program at Sheetal Niwas this morning.
He went to the Martyrs Memorial at Lainchaur immediately after taking oath of office and secrecy from President Bidya Devi Bhandari. Speaker Ghimire laid a wreath on the Memorial and observed a minute's silence before heading to Singha Durbar.
Ghimire, backed by the ruling coalition, was elected as the Speaker with 167 votes in the election yesterday.
His rival Ishwari Neupane of Nepali Congress received 100 votes.
