Nepal Telecom, a telecommunications service provider in Nepal, is set to launch its 5G network from various places of the country as part of a pilot project.
The 5G network trial will be inaugurated by Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma, said Shobhan Adhikari, the spokesperson of the Nepal Telecom.
“We have installed equipment at Babarmahal and Sundhara for the operation of the 5G network. They are ready to be operated,” said Adhikari.
The trial of the 5G network is being conducted almost two years after the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, the telecommunications regulatory body, permitted to operate as a pilot project.
The NTC will operate its 5G network in the 2600 MHz band, called the mid-band spectrum in the 5G glossary.
After conducting in the Kathmandu Valley, the NTC is making preparations to launch it in the major cities of seven provinces.
