Sudurpaschim CM Rawal taking confidence vote today

Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province Rajendra Singh Rawal is taking a vote of confidence today.

A meeting of the province assembly has been called for 11 am today and the agenda of the meeting is to take the vote of confidence, said Narendra Kunwar, the spokesperson of the Sudurpaschim Province Secretariat.

The meeting called for January 25 for the vote of confidence was postponed after the environment was not created conducive. The meeting is taking place after three weeks.

Nagarik Unmukti Party Chairman Ranjita Shrestha said her party will not give the vote of confidence to Chief Minister Rawal for his failure to address its demands.

Rawal who was appointed as the chief minister on January 11 is scheduled to take the trust vote today. His government will crumble if NUP does not give the vote of confidence to it.

Rawal had been appointed as the chief minister with the support of 29 lawmakers including 11 lawmakers from CPN (Maoist Center), 10 from CPN (UML), seven from NUP, and one from Rastriya Prajatantra Party.

There is a constitutional provision that the chief minister has to take a vote of confidence within one month of the appointment.
