5 among 7 DIGs likely to be promoted as AIGs

The government is making preparations to promote five deputy inspector generals (DIG) of police to the post of additional inspector generals (AIG) of Police.

A meeting of the promotion recommendation committee will take place after Inspector General Dhiraj Pratap Singh returns to Nepal from UAE, said the Home Ministry.

"Currently IGP Singh is in the UAE. Recommendation process for the promotion of the DIGs will be made once he returns home,' Home Secretary told Nepalkhabar.

On February 6, IGP Sigh left for the UAE to attend the 24th Asian Regional Summit of Interpol which ran till February 9.

AIG Puja Singh is retiring on February 15. With her retirement, there will be five vacancies of AIGs in the Nepal Police.

DIGs Basanta Kunwar, Tek Prasad Rai, Ashok Singh and Deepak Thapa are likely to be promoted as AIGs. Similarly, one among Shyam Lal Gyawali, Kiran Bajracharya and Meera Chaudhary will be promoted, said a Nepal Police source.
