Late former Finance Minister and UML leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari's daughter Lima Adhikari has joined Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) led by Rabi Lamichhane.
A meeting of the RSP on Monday nominated Adhikari as party's central member.
She was previously associated with the CPN (Unified Socialist). In the general elections held on November 20, the Unified Socialist Party made Adhikari a proportional candidate in the House of Representatives from the Khas-Arya women's quota.
She decided to join the RSP after concluding that the country's prosperity, employment, and education are not guaranteed by the old parties.
Adhikari has recently been active in social service through the Bharat Mohan Adhikari Foundation. The Foundation has been conducting free literacy programs for the illiterate elderly at Bungmati in Lalitpur and Biratnagar. Her father Bharat Mohan was the finance minister of the then CPN (UML)-led minority government.
The Adhikari Foundation had started programs like 'Let's build our own village, cooperatives in every village, social security allowance for senior citizens and single women's allowance.
Even after passing away, Adhikari is popular among senior citizens due to the same benevolent action.
