US Deputy Assistant Secy Akhter calls on Foreign Secy Paudyal

US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia and Central Asian Affairs, Afreen Akhter, who arrived in Kathmandu on Monday evening, held a meeting with Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal today.

Nepal-US cooperation and other matters of mutual interest featured during the meeting.

"Foreign Secretary received Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs of the US Department of State H.E. Ms Afreen Akhtar at his office today. Nepal-US cooperation and other matters of mutual interest featured during the conversation," MoFA tweeted. 

During her visit, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary is scheduled to hold discussions with partners of International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and Energy Nepal, according to the US Embassy in Nepal.

Similarly, she is also scheduled to meet with Nepali Army and government officers. US Deputy Assistant Secretary Akhter would discuss the issues of climate change, clean energy, humanitarian assistance, and disaster response as well as making progress in democracy, human rights, and economic prosperity.
