Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said the NC will extend support to CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as the prime minister for a full-five year term if the latter supports the NC in the presidential election.
The candidate of the Nepali Congress would be the most suitable candidate for the post of the president in the present political circumstances, said Mahat.
Talking to Nepalkhabar, Mahat said that it would be the best option if the president was elected through national consensus.
He further said that the NC gave the vote of confidence to Prime Minister Dahal for the protection of the constitution.
Meanwhile, he urged all the political parties to elect the candidate fielded by the NC for the post of the President at a time when the CPN (UML) is not agreeing to go for national consensus.
The Election Commission has set February 25 for filing the nomination and March 9 for the election of the president.
