The Nepali Army has set a world record by playing 555 madals, a traditional Nepali drum, at one time.

The Nepal representative of World Books of Records handed over the certificate of the record set by the Army to COAS Prabhuram Sharma at the ceremony organized at Sainik Manch Tundikhel to mark Shivaratri festival and Army Day on Saturday.

Nepal representative of the organization, Sagar Katuwal, handed over the certificate of setting a world record for playing 555 madals at a single time on February 16.

Madal is one of the most widely used musical instruments of Nepal.

Singer Ninarya NSK, who worked as part of the team to verify the record set by the army, said that the world record set by the army has succeeded in making Nepal known around the world, as Madal is number one in the list of widely used instruments in the country.
