Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' is making preparations to call an all-party meeting in a bid to forge a national consensus on the presidential candidate.
The date for filing nomination for the post of president has been fixed at February 25.
Prime Minister Dahal has prepared to make a common opinion about the candidates among the parties before the nomination filing.
"Prime Minister Dahal is making preparations to call an all-party meeting on February 22-23," Sources told Nepalkhabar, "The all-party meeting will try to forge consensus on the presidential candidacy."
Ruling Maoist Center has been reiterating that the candidate to be fielded for the post of the president should be acceptable to all the political parties.
Prime Minister Dahal and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli have held meetings for 23 times to forge a common understating on the presidential candidate, but without success.
Dahal has been stressing the consensual candidate acceptable to all the political parties while Oli is adamant that the candidate should be from the UML as per the agreement reached with the ruling alliance.
Main opposition Nepali Congress has been lobbying with the Maoist Center for the president.
