Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) has urged Nepali Congress to forge national consensus in the name of Mahantha Thakur for the president.
LSP leaders met with President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Dhumbarahi this morning and urged the latter to play a role in making Thakur the new president.
In the meeting with Deuba, LSP party chairman Mahantha Thakur, senior leader Rajendra Mahato, Sarbendra Nath Shukla, Anil Kumar Jha said Thakur would be the best candidate for national consensus.
“Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has floated a proposal of national consensus. No agreement has been reached so far. UML has said it will not support the candidate fielded by NC and vice versa,” said Sarbendra Nath Shukla, “We, therefore, have urged Deuba to make our party chair Thakur as the president through national consensus.”
In response, Deuba said that the NC has not yet taken a decision on it and assured the LSP leaders that he would discuss it in the party meeting.
