Three missing after being swept away by floods in Jhapa

With the incessant rains continuing for the last two days, three people have been washed away by floods in Jhapa district.

According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, Neharika Rajbanshi, 14, of Kachankawal Rural Municipality-1, and 35-year-old Tikaram Chaudhary of Kamal Rural Municipality-1 have been washed away by the rivulets triggered by incessant rains.

Neharika was washed away by Jamuna rivulet while she was heading to Jhakuwa Tole from Chamar Bhitta yesterday, said the police. Similarly, Tikaram was washed away while he was fishing in the river.

Similarly, a motorcycle, Province 1-02-05 Pa 6978, was washed away while crossing the Amarkhutta rivulet in Kachankawal-2. The condition of motorcyclist Rabin Bhattarai, 27, is normal.

Similarly, a motorable bridge connecting Khudunabari and Shanishware over the Biring River has also been washed away by the swollen rivulet in Arjundhara Municipality-7.

Likewise, a man went missing after he fell into the Kisne Rivulet from the bridge connecting two and three wards of Gaurigunj Rural Municipality-3, according to the police. Kemalal Tajpuriya, 50, of Gaurigunj-2, Bhakurmari, went missing after being swept by the floods around 4 pm yesterday.
