Influence of monsoon increases; heavy rain forecast in several provinces

The influence of the monsoon has increased throughout the country and there is possibility of rainfall in many places across the nation, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

The monsoon low-pressure area is around the Tarai region of Nepal somewhat above the average position in the west and near the average position in the east.

It is cloudy across the country at present. Light to moderate rain is taking place at some places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and at one or two places of Karnali province.

The Division stated that the weather across the country will be mostly cloudy this afternoon. Moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in most places across the Mountainous, Hilly, and Tarai regions. Snowfall is also possible alongside the rain in high-altitude mountainous areas.

The meteorological division has reported that heavy to very heavy rainfall is possible in some hilly and Tarai areas of Koshi, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, a few places in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as at one or two Tarai areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

There is a possibility of very heavy rainfall in a few hilly and Tarai areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Likewise, tonight most parts of the country will remain cloudy. In some places in the mountainous region, there is a chance of moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning.

The Division has stated that there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder and lightning in most hilly areas of Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in most hilly and Tarai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

Tonight, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in some hilly and Tarai areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and heavy rain in a few hilly and Tarai areas of Madhesh and Bagmati provinces.

The Division has urged people to stay alert as extremely heavy rain could occur in some hilly and Tarai areas of Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has also urged the general public to take necessary precautions as the risk of flash floods, landslides, inundation, sediment flow, and erosion is increasing due to heavy rainfall.
