Global outage hits Facebook desktop login; millions left locked out

Facebook, a popular social networking site, has temporarily gone down across the globe.

Thousands of Facebook users are hit as they have not been able to post their contents due to the technical glitches.  

Facebook has stated that the service has temporarily gone done and assured users that services will resume shortly. "Your account is temporally unavailable due to site issue. We expect this issue to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes," reads Facebook message.

While the outage is impacting users trying to log in via desktop web browsers, the Facebook mobile app continues to function normally.

The cause behind the technical glitches has not yet been ascertained.

Facebook is an American social networking service owned by the American technology conglomerate Meta Platforms. It was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg.
