It is seen that the senior leader of Nepali Congress Ramchandra Paudel will become the common presidential candidate on behalf of the then five-party alliance given the country's politics does not take a dramatic turn.
As the nomination registration date for the presidential poll approaches, the political discussions that started on Wednesday morning have created an environment where Poudel will become a common candidate on behalf of the coalition that collapsed on December 25.
In the discussion held at Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence, Dhumbarahai with the leadership of CPN Unified Socialists on Wednesday evening, the leaders said that a preliminary agreement was reached to revive the old 5-party alliance and go to the presidential election.
A leader of the Unified Socialist who participated in the meeting said that an agreement was reached between the two parties to go to the presidential election by bringing onboard CPN-Maoist Center and reviving the then alliance that collapsed on December 25.
The leader informed that an initial agreement has been made to make one among the senior Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel and Chairman of Unified Socialist Madhav Kumar Nepal as the presidential candidate.
He also claimed that if Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal agrees, Leader Poudel, will be the common candidate for the presidency.
Prachanda, who wants to run the government for 5 years, has reached an agreement to run the government for three years and the rest of the time to be run by the Congress and the Unified Socialists.
On Wednesday, Paudel had met the Unified Socialist Chair Nepal at his party office in Alok Nagar and urgedhim to help him for the presidency.
It is said that the two leaders discussed the presidential election for about an hour and a half on Wednesday.
