Newly-appointed US Ambassador Dean R. Thompson called on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further deepen bilateral ties between the two countries.

"It was a pleasure to meet with Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Deuba today to discuss how we can build on the strong foundation of 75 years of U.S. – Nepal partnership," Ambassador Thompson tweeted after his meeting with the prime minister.

Thompson has intensified his engagements with Nepali leadership, shortly after he presented credentials to President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday.

Earlier this afternoon, the newly-appointed United States Ambassador paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Dr Narayan Khadka.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interests to further deepening bilateral relations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Thompson came to Nepal last week to take up his diplomatic assignment. He replaced Randy Berry, who was serving as the US ambassador since October 2018. Berry was recently appointed the US ambassador to Namibia.
