Night flight services are starting from Pokhara International Airport, the third largest airport in Nepal, starting today.
Jagannath Niraula, spokesperson of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), said that earlier, flights were being operated at the airport only from 6 am to 4 pm.
"With the implementation of the IFR system, it is now possible to operate the aircraft taking off and landing at Pokhara International Airport even during foggy weather. From today, the night service will also start," Niraula said.
It is said that the airport will operate from 6 am to 12 am (midnight) from today, for 18 hours a day.
The airport came into operation since January 1.
According to the Authority, since the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) system has been installed at the airport to allow aircraft to take off and land with the help of instruments, night flights will be instructed to take off and land.
Earlier, the flights used to be operated on the basis of Visual Flight Rules (VFR) system.
