Leaders of the old five-party alliance are engaged in discussions at a time when power partners CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center) are struggling to agree on the selection of the presidential candidate.
At the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar, discussions are currently being held among the Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist Center, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and CPN (Unified Socialists), who are in the five-party alliance before the elections.
According to Baluwatar sources, top leaders including Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda, who is also the Prime Minister, President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba, Chairman of CPN Unified Socialist Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of JSP Upendra Yadav are participating in the meeting.
Senior Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel, Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, General Secretary Gagan Thapa and Senior Vice Chairman of Maoist Center Narayankaji Shrestha are also participating in the meeting.
The meeting is said to have continued from 9 am.
