Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that the president will be elected from the old five-party alliance that existed before the general elections.

Following the meeting held in Baluwatar, Thapa said that the meeting that lasted for three and a half hours, focused on the presidential election. In the meeting, the NC proposed that the president should be elected from its party.

The meeting, however, did not strike a deal after the other parties put forward candidates from outside the NC.

Following the meeting, NC General Secretary Gagan Thapa said that various proposals were received and a decision would be taken at 5 pm.

“Various proposals were discussed in the Baluwatar meeting, “said Thapa, “Now we will hold talks in our respective parties and come to a conclusion in the meeting scheduled for 5 pm.”
