Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is trying to woo Madhav Kumar Nepal, the chairman of the CPN (Unified Socialist), who is aspiring for the presidency.
By offering him the premiership for one year, he has started to 'convince' Chairman Nepal to create an environment that will help the candidate put forward by the Nepali Congress for the presidency.
According to a source privy to the meeting, Prachanda spoke in a 'convincing' manner after Nepal expressed his views on its contribution to Nepali politics in the three-hour discussion of the old alliance parties at the Prime Minister's residence Baluwatar today.
"NC did not talk much about itself. "Nepal talked about his contribution," said a top NC leader who attended the meeting, "then the Prime Minister talked to him in a convincing manner."
The leader also said that in the meeting, there was a discussion on how to allow Nepal, to lead the government for one year.
"There has been a talk of allowing Madhav Kumar Nepal run the government for one year in Baluwatar," he said.
CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli proposed that Chairman Nepal be put forward for the presidency. In a four-hour long meeting in New Baneshwor last Saturday, Oli asked him to become the president.
Similarly, Oli also proposed Nepal as the president in the meeting with Prachanda in Baluwatar two days ago.
NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba offered Chairman Nepal, who reached Dhumbarahi last Sunday, to take charge as the as Prime Minister for one year.
He also said that there will be another discussion between Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and CPN (Unified Socialist) at 5 pm.
After the meeting, NC General Secrecy Gagan Thapa informed that there was a positive discussion in the Baluwatar meeting and that they will hold a meeting again at 5 pm.
"Even in the morning, four parties sat together and held discussions. Various options were discussed. The talks ended on positive note. Now we will hold discussions within our respective parties before sitting again at 5 pm," said Thapa.
