All the eight ministers representing CPN (UML) have tendered their resignations to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda.’
The ministers including Bishnu Paudel reached Baluwatar this afternoon and submitted their resignations to Prime Minister Prachanda.
A secretariat meeting of the UML held at the central party office at Chyasal, Lalitpur decided to pull out of the government and withdraw its support to it.
With the decision to pull out of the government, the UML ministers had decided to tender resignations to the Prime Minister Dahal.
UML had called an emergency meeting today after Prime Minister Prachanda intercepted Foreign Minister Dr. Bimala Rai from leaving for Geneva to attend a meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council. Following the sudden interception by the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Rai Paudyal said that she had been insulted.
UML had got eight ministries including one Deputy Prime Minister in the Prachanda-led cabinet. Bishnu Paudel was the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister.
Similarly, Jwala Kumari Sah (Minister for Agriculture and Livestock), Bhagawati Chaudhari (Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare), Dr. Bimala Rai Paudyal (Foreign Minister), Padam Giri, (Health Minister), Rajendra Rai (Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation) and Hari Upreti (Defense Minister) have resigned from their posts.
On Sunday, the RPP withdrew its support to the government after it decided to pull out of the government.
On December 25, Prachanda had become the Prime Minister with the support of 169 MPs from seven parties including three independent lawmakers.
