Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has sent a letter to CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli asking for votes for senior Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel, who has become a candidate on behalf of the eight-party alliance, in the presidential election to be held on March 9.

Saying Paudel is decent, intelligent and cultured political personality and a leading figure of the democratic movement, Congress president Deuba sent a letter to Oli seeking vote for Paudel.

UML nominated Vice-chairman Subas Chandra Nembang as its candidate for the presidency.

The final list of candidates is scheduled to be released today.

The Election Commission has said that those who have registered their nominations for the presidency can withdraw them today.

"It is the common responsibility of all of us to move forward dynamically towards the economic-social transformation of the country while efficiently carrying out today's national task of protecting the constitution and institutionalizing and strengthening the federal democratic republic", Deuba said in the letter sent to Oli, "while you are fulfilling this responsibility, you must fulfill our undisputed guardianship. I want to give you the confidence that Poudel will prove to be worthy.'
