Nepal clinched a 7-run win against home team UAE to qualify for the ICC U19 World Cup to be held in Sri Lanka in 2024.
With this win in the match held at The Gardens Oval Stadium in Ajman, UAE on Thursday, Nepal avenged the defeat inflicted by UAE in 2019.
Nepal were deprived of playing World Cup after they lost to the opponent by one run in a qualifier played under Duckworth Lewis (D/L) method.
UAE were all out for 184 runs while chasing a 192-run target set by Nepal in 48 overs. Nepal inched closer towards victory after Dipesh Kandel claimed three wickets in 47 overs.
Subash Bhandari took five wickets giving away 31 runs while Hemanta Dhami took two wickets.
UAE’s opener Aryan Saksena made 67 runs in a partnership with Aryansh Sharma. Ethan Carl D'Souza made 50 runs and Aryansh was sent back to pavilion for 32 runs.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal notched up 191 runs in 48.5 overs losing all wickets. Dev Khanal made 84 runs in the partnership with Uttam Rangu Thapa Magar for the fourth wicket.
Dev Khanal made 51 runs followed by Uttam with 36 runs while Bikram KC contributed 38 runs.
In reply, Dhruv Parashar took three wickets while Aayan Afzal Khan and Harit Harish Shetty took two wickets each.
