Twitter, a social media firm, has issued a statement in response to many instances of the website's features not operating as planned.

Twitter has been having a variety of issues lately, and at times it has even completely shut down.

While Twitter as a whole didn't completely cease functioning today, the site is currently experiencing a variety of problems that developed after the business attempted to make a new change behind the scenes.

Many essential Twitter functionalities stopped working for millions of users worldwide during the last hour. Several users claimed that they initially had no access to the site at all, while others merely discovered that links, videos, and other supporting data were not loading properly.

Following the discovery of these broad inaccuracies, Twitter eventually issued a statement to explain the root of the problem.

"Some parts of Twitter may not be working as expected right now," said Twitter's official support account in a recent message to users. "We made an internal change that had some unintended consequences. We're working on this now and will share an update when it's fixed."

In essence, the Twitter API appears to be the cause of these widespread issues.

For those who are unaware, the feature of Twitter that enables the viewing of the aforementioned items, such as photographs, videos, and online articles, in one's feed is known as an API (Application Programming Interface).

Messages stating that their "current API plan does not include access to this endpoint" have reportedly been sent to some users. In essence, this shows that Twitter may have strangely locked itself out of its own API and is now trying to reverse this decision.
