Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi has been transferred.
According to diplomatic sources, Yanqi is about to become the Chinese Ambassador to the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
"The China government has transferred Ambassador Hou Yanqi. She will be reassigned as China's Ambassador to the ASEAN," the sources said.
Yanqi will leave Nepal for her new assignment before December.
With the decision to reassign Yanqi, the China government is making preparations to appoint a new ambassador to the Himalayan nation.
Yanqi had been appointed as the Chinese ambassador to Nepal in 2018.
The ASEAN consists of ten member states including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
