Newly appointed American Ambassador to Nepal Dean Thompson has taken an oath of office and secrecy.
United States Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R. Sherman administered the oath of office and secrecy to Thompson amidst a ceremony on Friday.
Posting a twitter message, the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs under the U.S. Department of State said, “Thompson was sworn-in as the new U.S. Ambassador to Nepal. He will further grow the Nepal-U.S. relations for the benefits of our people.”
Thompson, who has more than 25 years of experience in the US Department of State, particularly in South Asia, will take charge as the ambassador to Nepal within a few weeks.
The incumbent Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry has already been appointed as the ambassador to Namibia.
