Buddhist monks and pilgrims from South Korea arrive Lumbini

A Buddhist organization registered under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea brought Buddhist pilgrims including Korean Buddhist monks and nuns to Lumbini on foot.

The pilgrims reached Lumbini through Bodh Gaya, Sharnath, Kushinagar in India.

Religious leaders and pilgrims, including Korea's senior monk Cha Sung, have come to Lumbini after walking a thousand kilometers.

Elder monk Cha Sung gave a sermon wishing for world peace in the Mayadevi premises along with viewing the Buddha Birth Memorial (Marker Stone), sacred Puskarani Lake, Ashoka Pillar inside the Mayadevi Temple.


A group of Korean monks were welcomed by the Lumbini Development Trust on Tuesday.

A group of Korean Buddhist pilgrims prayed for world peace at Mayadevi Temple. 

Korean Ambassador to Nepal Park Chong Suk was also present in the puja and prayer.

During the prayer and worship program, Rupandehi-5 MP Basudev Ghimire said the relationship between Nepal and South Korea has deepened with this event.

He mentioned that Nepal and South Korea are connected not only religiously but also in terms of employment.
 
Park Chong Suk, the Korean Ambassador to Nepal, said that he was happy to welcome the pilgrims including religious leaders to Mayadavi Temple premises, the birthplace of Buddha.

He said that Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, has strengthened Nepal's relationship with South Korea.

Vice President of Lumbini Development Trust Bhikshu Maittaya said that Nepali month of Falgun is very important in the life of Lord Gautam Buddha. 

He mentioned that it was a happy moment for the Buddha followers to reach Lumbini after completing a distance of 1000 km following the Buddha path this month.

The pilgrimage began on foot from New Delhi, India, on February 21. 
A group of Korean Buddhists will return to India on foot through Kakrahawa Pass on Wednesday morning.

Of late, a large group of Buddhist religious leaders and pilgrims from different countries have been coming to Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha.
