Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Monday said that the five-party ruling coalition is not meant for making him the country’s next prime minister.
Speaking at a mass assembly jointly organized by the governing parties in Kathmandu, Deuba emphasized the relevancy of the coalition government.
“The coalition was not formed to make me the prime minister. Instead, it came into being as per the country’s need, and it is essential for the country even now and tomorrow,” Prime Minister Deuba said.
He also expressed belief that all the political parties will extend support to the current coalition.
“We are at a very critical juncture in the country’s political history. This coalition came into existence for the consolidation of federal democratic republic and inclusiveness that we achieved through a long political struggle,” Deuba added.
During the event, top leaders of the ruling coalition including chairman of the Maoist Center Pushp Kamal Dahal emphasized the relevancy of the Deuba-led regime even after November 20 elections.
