Chairman of the ruling CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda on Monday said CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli should be held responsible for the failure to forge unity among Nepali communist parties.
Addressing a mass assembly organized jointly by the ruling parties in the capital, Prachanda argued that left-wing political parties would have come together in the national politics had Oli been sincere towards the communist movement.
"In fact, UML Chairman Oli thwarted the unity among the commnist parties, thereby inhibiting the communist movement in Nepal," he said.
Prachanda, without naming Oli, said that some people were against federal democratic republic when the country was witnessing an uprising against the monarchy.
"Some people even ruled out the possibility of having a federal democratic republican system in the country. They believed that monarchy would never be abolished. However, they upheld federalism and republicanism eventually. Coming back again now, same people seem to be against federalism and republicanism," he added.
Prachanda said that the November 20 elections is going to be a battle between republicans and status-quoists. "Status-quoists are making efforts to push the country towards regression. So, pro-republican forces should stand together against such regressive forces," he grumbled.
Prachanda, who is also the former prime minister, said that pro-republican forces are in a battle with pro-royalists. "There is a struggle between the republicans and royalists," he said.
