As many as 542 leaders and cadres have announced that they have abandoned the CPN-UML in the Parsa district.

CPN-UML Central Advisory Council member Kadam Rasul, 3 Madhes Province Committee members, Constituent Assembly member Fuljhari Devi, Islam Hawari and others quit the party.

Issuing a statement on Saturday, they said that they have abandoned the UML en-masse from various positions and responsibilities of the party. They had been expressing dissatisfaction with the party's decision saying that the alliance with the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) was unholy.

According to Baburam Kaushik, member of CPN-UML Madhesh Province Committee and in-charge of Parsa-1, a meeting was held on Saturday of leaders and cadres who were dissatisfied with the party's decision.

Kaushik said that instead of being responsible to the people, the UML leadership went against the sentiments of the people and the purpose of the party, so they were forced to leave the party.

"The alliance between JSP and UML is unholy because one raises slogans of nationalism while the other is the backer of Madhesh Pradesh," he said, adding, " It is like a mixture of oil and water," he said.

We are embarking on a campaign to make an independent candidate victorious in the November 20 elections, according to the people's wishes.

It should be noted that leader Kaushik is the coordinator of Prabhu Sah's "Independent candidate win campaign" in Parsa.
