Vote count starts in Tanahun-1

The vote count has started in Tanahun constituency-1.

The counting of votes has started at the District Coordination Committee Building at 12:15 am (Sunday midnight).

In the by-election held on Sunday, 63,737 votes were cast out of 123,305 votes in this constituency, according to the District Election Office.

In Tanahun-1, the main competition is between Govinda Bhattarai from Nepali Congress, Sarbendra Khanal from UML and Dr Swarnim Wagle from Rastriya Swatantra Party.

A total of nine candidates are taking part in the by-elections in this constituency.

In the elections held on November 20, senior NC leader Paudel won the seat of the House of Representatives with 25,361 votes. His nearest rival Ek Bahadur Ranamar got 19,981.

On November 20, 54 percent votes were cast in Tanahun-1. This time, the Election Commission said that more than 53 percent of the votes were here in this constituency.

The by-election was held after Ram Chandra Paudel, a member of the House of Representatives who won the elections from Tanahun-1, was elected as the President.
