Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav has won the by-election for the member of the House of Representatives in Bara Constituency No. 2.
Yadav has won by defeating his nearest rival Janamat Party candidate Shiva Chandra Kushwaha of Janamat Party by a margin of 5,000 votes.
According to the final results, Yadav has secured 28 thousand 415 votes, while his nearest rival Kushwaha has received 23 thousand 334 votes.
The vote difference between Yadav and Kushwaha is 5,008.
UML candidate Purushottam Paudel stood in the third position with 10 thousand 216 votes, while Ramesh Kharel of Rashtriya Swatantra Party is in fourth with 2 thousand 829 votes.
Arun Gyawali of Aam Janata Party also got competitive votes with Kharel.
Gyawali, the candidate of the Aam Janata Party established after the general election, has received 2,738 votes.
The party was founded by former Maoist leader Prabhu Shah, who revolted from UML and was elected as an independent candidate from Rautahat-3.
This constituency was vacated after JSP leader Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, who was elected in the House of Representatives election held last November, became the vice president.
For this reason, the by-election was held on April 23.
JSP has managed to secure this constituency with the help of parties affiliated to the ruling coalition including NepaliCongress, CPN (Maoist Center), Lokatantrik Samajbadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist).
