Nepali Congress leader Dilli Chaudhary has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province on Thursday.
Province Chief Amik Sherchan appointed Chaudhary as the Chief Minister of the Province.
Province Chief Amik Sherchan on Tuesday called on the parties to stake a claim for the formation of a new government in line with Article 168 (2) of the Constitution by 4 pm today with the support of two or more parties.
In response to the same call, Congress Parliamentary Party leader Chaudhary submitted his claim for the post of Chief Minister for the formation of a new government of the Province.
The eight parties had already decided to make Congress leader Chaudhary the Chief Minister.
On April 25, the parties including the Maoist Center withdrew their support to CPN-UML Chief Minister Leela Giri.
After Chief Minister Giri failed to get the vote of confidence last Monday, the process of forming a new government in Lumbini was initiated.
