Chinese envoy and FinMin hold talks; Tokha-Chhahare tunnel project to be implemented

China to provide Rs 80 bln grant for Nepal’s infrastructure development

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song has held a meeting with Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat on Friday.

In the meeting, the two leaders dwelled on the construction of the Tokha-Chhahare tunnel as soon as possible.

Similarly, there was also a discussion about making tunnels in other hilly areas like Mustang and Rasuwagadhi.

According to the Finance Minister's Secretariat, the meeting also discussed bringing a large number of tourists from China into Nepal.

Minister Dr. Mahat said that the assistance received from China will increase Nepal's competitiveness by investing in the infrastructure development sector.

During the meeting, Chinese Ambassador Song informed that China would provide Nepal Rs 80 billion rupees for the development of Nepal's infrastructure, according to the Secretariat.

Ambassador Song expressed his belief that the aid provided by the Chinese government will be used in the infrastructure sector of Nepal.
