Foreign Minister NP Saud is set to participate in the coronation of British King Charles III from Nepal after President Ram Chandra Paudel is unable to attend the ceremony due to his health condition.
Foreign Minister Saud is going to Britain on behalf of President Paudel.
Saud is going to Britain on May 4 to participate in the coronation of Charles III.
The British King's coronation program is scheduled for May 6. Earlier, it was reported that President Paudel would participate in the coronation.
However, due to his ill health, Foreign Minister Saud has been assigned to attend the ceremony, sources at the Foreign Ministry said.
Saud's personal secretary Deepak Joshi said that he is scheduled to go to Britain on May 4 and return home on May 9.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sewa Lamsal, said that due to the health condition of President Paudel, preparations are being made to send Foreign Minister Saud to participate in the coronation.
“President Paudel has gone to Delhi for treatment. It is also said that Paudel will return today,” she said.
Britain is the first country to establish diplomatic relations with Nepal. After the death of Queen Elizabeth II last September, the coronation ceremony of her successor and British King Charles III is being celebrated for three days.
Buckingham Palace has reportedly sent out invitations to 2,000 guests to attend the coronation ceremony of British King Charles III.
